Please join us for a fabulous opening talk with Dave Gilboa, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Warby Parker, who has helped position Warby Parker from its early startup phase to the successful company it is today. Joining us as well is our Keynote speaker, Kristen Titus, New York’s first Chief Technology & Innovation Officer who will be discussing the challenges and opportunities at the intersection of technology and policy in 2017. At a time when the discussion of tech and politics is top of mind for companies, lawmakers, and voters alike, Kristen will talk about building out New York’s first tech policy shop, priorities for the coming years, and the role of the private sector today and into the future.

We are also very excited to announce and welcome the two start-up companies that will be joining us at the event:

Alla Gil, CEO and Founder of Straterix will discuss her company’s strategic platform, which automatically generates forward-looking scenarios, projects financial performance against possible future market conditions, and allows for analysis, stress tests, and optimization of capital allocations. Alla will give us a brief taste of the top down approach to performance optimization, as well as how to be prepared for market stress through early warning signals.
Glenn Bolstad, Founder/Head of Strategy & Vision at Vikar Technologies, will discuss the innovation and efficiency techniques used by their firm, to provide innovative solutions, incorporating design thinking in business models to improve customer and employee experiences.

Dave Gilboa’s Bio

Dave Gilboa is the co-founder and co-CEO of Warby Parker, a transformative lifestyle brand offering designer eyewear at a revolutionary price while leading the way for socially conscious businesses. In 2015, Fast Company named Warby Parker the most innovative company in the world.

Prior to Warby Parker, Dave worked at merchant bank Allen & Company and Bain & Company. Dave has worked extensively with non-profit organizations, and serves as a founding member of the Entrepreneur Board of Venture for America, an organization dedicated to mobilizing graduates as entrepreneurs in low-cost cities. He is a member of the Aspen Institute’s 2014 Henry Crown Fellowship class and the Aspen Global Leadership Network, received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, and was recognized as part of “The Next Establishment” by Vanity Fair.

Born in Sweden and raised in San Diego, Dave graduated with a BS in Bioengineering with Honors from UC Berkeley and holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

 

Kristen Titus’ Bio

Kristen is the Chief Technology & Innovation Officer of New York, leading the State’s digitaland tech policy portfolios. She is the former Founding Executive Director of the NYC Tech Talent Pipeline and Girls Who Code. In NYC, Kristen led the Mayor’s $10 million commitment to support the growth of the tech sector. Her work in the administration mobilized 150 industry executives and thought leaders alike in support of first-of-its-kind policy and programming, including a new, multi-million dollar training and education portfolio, investments to realign 15 of the city’s top colleges, and the historic launch of Computer Science for All, serving 1.1 million New Yorkers. Her work has served as model for President Obama’s recently launched TechHire initiative and is now replicated in 50+ cities, from Rochester to London. Previously, Kristen was the founding Executive Director of Girls Who Code, a national nonprofit working to close the gender gap in technology and engineering.

Recognizing her work in the field, Kristen was named one of TIME Magazine’s “30 People Under 30 Changing the World,” one of Business Insider’s 2014 “Most Influential Young People in Tech,” one of Forbes’ “Women Changing the World,” and Elle Magazine’s “11 Women Who Might Just Change the World.” Her work in the New York tech community has been widely recognized; she was one of Business Insider’s “Silicon Alley 100,” and noted as one of its “30 Most Important Women Under 30 in Tech.” Kristen was named an Aspen Ideas Festival Scholar in 2013.

Kristen is a former consultant to nonprofit organizations, foundations, and corporate partners working at the intersection of philanthropy and technology, and the former Managing Director of Jumo.com, the social network for the social sector from Facebook Co-Founder Chris Hughes. She sits on the Board of Refugees United and CODE2040, is a member of the Guggenheim’s Global Innovation Group and an Advisor at Grand Central Tech, GlobalGiving and Crisis Text Line.

 

Alla Gil’s Bio

Alla Gil is CEO and co-founder of Straterix Inc. She is a specialist in stress testing, strategic asset / liability and tail risk modeling and portfolio optimization. Over the past 20 years, as a managing director and the head of Investment Banking Corporate Strategy at Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and Nomura Securities, Alla has been advising banks, sovereign treasuries, international insurance companies, asset managers, pension funds and corporations on ALM, stress testing, long term risk projections, liquidity and optimal capital allocation. She has developed a methodology that enables clients to establish return targets, risk appetite, dynamic portfolio strategy, discover stress scenarios and incorporate them into strategic planning based on early warnings signals.

Alla has extensive publications and conference presentations over the past 15 years on the subject of practical approach to identifying and mitigating tail risk with specific solution, market and credit risk integration and long-term portfolio optimization. Alla’s background is in theoretical mathematics and optimization.

 

Glenn Bolstad’s Bio

Glenn Bolstad is a founder and the Head of Strategy and Vision at Vikar Technologies. Glenn launched this business building scalable and sustainable business processes with a focus on Digital Transformation and Client Life Cycle Management. His approach is to improve the customer experience and transform the manual worker to a knowledge worker working within regulatory and compliance guidelines. Glenn’s team has helped reduce the time to onboard clients at multiple large financial institutions from months to hours while maintaining strict adherence to ever changing regulations.

Prior to founding Vikar Technologies, Glenn was North America General Manager for Appway, a Swiss-based company and provider of digital banking solutions. In a six year period, Glenn grew Appway’s business from 1 to 38 employees representing 40% of the firm’s global revenue.

Glenn has spoken at numerous industry conferences including American Banker, In/Vest and SIFMA on Digital Transformation as well as a feature speaker on Bloomberg The Price of Business, Business Talk. Glenn has over 23 years of experience in entrepreneurship, sales management and consulting working for both financial services institutions and technology companies. Glenn holds a degree in Finance and MBA from the Norwegian School of Management.
