As a follow up to our CIO Forum event on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, we would like to give special thanks to our speakers, Reuven Aronashvili, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CYE,for his innovative discussion on Cyber Security and Robin Gordon, Chief Data and Analytics Officer at MetLife for her discussion on Responsible AI. It was great seeing everyone in person as we head into the holiday season.
Below are key takeaways from the meeting. Looking forward to seeing you all at our next event.
Rubi: Cyber Security
- Most successful attacks are actually not made public
- Russia cleverly often uses non-state actors for their attacks
- Stealing intellectual property is a huge concern; this is a common goal of Chinese sourced attacks
- Simple attacks remain effective, even often with outdated methods
- Silent Cyber attacks can be much more effective and enduring than kinetic attacks
Takeaways:
- Cyber protection can be improved
- There is no blanket state protection against Cyber attacks
- Enterprises should plan for hardening against Cyber attacks, to avoid being surprised and caught unaware
Robin: Responsible AI
- Responsible AI cannot be bolted onto legacy systems, or sprinkled into existing legacy processes
- AI Risk cannot be eliminated, without totally squashing the upside potential
- AI Risk Management is not “one and done!”. It is an agile, iterative and multidimensional undertaking. It is a paradigm “Shift Left” that requires a revisiting with potentially totally new approaches
- AI requires a major change from the normal corporate philosophy to create processes to completely control risk
- There are many aspects to AI Risk Management, which include controlling data bias, moral, ethical, diversity, governance, and control
- The good news is AI itself can be designed to adjust for bias
- AI itself, resists these controls, as rapid progress is diametrically opposed to complete control. Ultimately there is a balance to be found between opportunity and risk
- AI ultimately needs regulation and regulatory oversight
Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday season!
thanks,
-malka
